Fallbrook Church expands to serve Cypress and Katy members with plans to build new location
A Houston-based church with over 20,000 members has plans to expand this fall with a second location in the Cypress area.
Fallbrook Church, at 12512 Walters Rd. in north Houston, announced plans to purchase property near the Bridgeland area this fall to create a second campus.
Founding pastor Michael Pender said approximately 1,500 members of Fallbrook live in the Cypress and Katy areas and often drive more than a half-hour to attend church. He hopes a new campus will help shorten their drive, making it easier for them to be involved in the church.
“Several of our members live over there and it just made sense for us to put a campus there because it's growing so fast,” Pender said.
Fallbrook has yet to announce the exact location, but Pender said they may close on the property in the next 60 days. After the purchase is finalized, he said they will look to complete construction within the next three years.
In the meantime, the church leased the cafeteria in Cy-Fair ISD’s Anthony Middle School with plans to kick-off weekly services for Fallbrook Cypress-Katy Sunday, Oct. 1. On the first Sunday of October, Fallbrook will host its 29th anniversary service with 500 families registered.
The church’s existing north Houston location sits on a 75-acre campus that features a school, recreation center, youth programs, and the Lone Star College-North Fallbrook campus. The site also includes three basketball courts and is known for hosting big sporting events – from basketball and volleyball to track meets outside.
Pender said the second campus will mirror the first location and focus on the youth and community through the church, sporting events and more.
The goal is “making sure every building we build can be utilized by the community,” beyond Sunday services, Pender explained.
“Everything we build here has multipurpose usage,” he said. “So that's why on any given day … all day long, you see cars in our parking lot.”
Fallbrook Church is a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community and feel welcomed.
We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory.
